My Clipper Round the World Race Journey Starts here
I’m thrilled to share some incredible news—I have been selected to join the Power of Seattle Sports team for the 2025–26 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race!

This race is a grueling 40,000-nautical-mile circumnavigation, and our team will be led by an inspiring all-female professional duo: Skipper Angela Brandsma and First Mate Amy Smith. Angela, hailing from Sneek, the Netherlands, has a deep connection to Seattle and is passionate about promoting accessibility and women’s leadership in sailing. Amy, making her first visit to the U.S., brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the team.

Seattle’s involvement in the Clipper Race is significant. The city will serve as both a Host Port and Team Partner, marking its fifth time welcoming the fleet. The race will arrive in Seattle in spring 2026, following the challenging North Pacific leg, known as ‘The Big One,’ renowned for its hurricane-force winds and towering waves.
The Seattle Sports Commission’s commitment to promoting pathways into sport and supporting women in athletics aligns perfectly with the Clipper Race’s values. Beth Knox, CEO and President of the Commission, expressed pride in the team’s representation and the historic appointment of our female leadership.

As an American sailor, I am particularly excited to compete for one of only two American-sponsored boats in the race. Joining this team is not just about sailing; it’s about being part of a movement that champions resilience, leadership, and inclusivity. I’m honored to represent Seattle and contribute to this incredible journey.
Stay tuned as I share more about our preparations and the adventure ahead!
